Business News: Women Still Experiencing a Glass Ceiling
By: Akika Parker
Corporate America really has an issue with glass ceilings; especially concerning women! According to the SF times’ article “Women fight hard to break into top-tier jobs” by Angela Swartz; who composed an article on Sheryl Sandberg and focused on female ambition in the work place.
Sheryl Sandberg, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Facebook speaks about her book “Lean In” and from that she hopes to shed light on a growing issue in corporate America, and speaks about how she didn’t expect to receive as much criticism as she did for holding women to certain standards. “Lean in” also sheds light on the disparity between the number of men vs. women that hold corporate positions in corporate America. The article goes on to say how America is in great need for more support groups for young women, gives advice to seek out more role models, and to get more girls interested in Science and Math earlier.
This article is inspiring for all! It’s time for corporate America to open up, and for women to demand their value! You only get what you ask for, otherwise big business heads will walk all over you.
Big business never pays a nickel in taxes, according to Ralph Nader, who represents a big consumer organization that never pays a nickel in taxes.
