Old Hollywood: Blast from the Past: Orry Kelly

Orry Kelly (1897-1964) infamous costume designer. His career thrived mostly between 1932 and 1944 while he was the chief costume designer of Warner Bros.

Kelly won three Oscars for “An American in Paris,” “Les Girls,” and “Some like it hot.” His breakout moment was Bette Davis in “Jezebel” in her red ball gown. Kelly was known as a genius not only for his costume designs but he was known as an expert at tailoring to the female body.

Other stars he worked with: Marilyn Monroe, Roselind Russell, Leslie Coron, Kay Kendall, Shirley MacLaine, Natalie Wood etc.
