NASA strikes out at Beyonce
As most of the world knows singer Beyoncé just released her fifth album and has broken tons of records this year. Well its never quite right without a little controversy. In her video for her song “XO” she uses the last audio from the January 28th 1986 NASA Challenger explosion. While Beyoncé has released a statement stating “the audio is in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten.”
Critics say this “its an emotionally difficult one for the Challenger crew members families, colleagues and friends” NASA has also released a statement saying “this accident is an important part of our history; a tragic reminder that space exploration is risky and should never be trivialized.”
Style Me says that both parties have a point however; in the grand scheme of things this is a part of American history! The world felt the tragedy and has a right to pay homage however they would like. The world may have forgotten if she hadn’t put it on her most historic album. This incident will forever live on in the music, which the families, colleagues and friends should be proud that someone paid homage to their lost love one, and should be even more upset and count it more disrespectful that it hadn’t memorialized sooner.
