1. Tell me about your 2013 collection?

My spring 2014 collection was called under the sea which also had mixture of Japanese inspirations. I used colors that represent spring, the beach, and various sea life. White was a main staple in the collection which reminded me of the beach. I also used sequined fabrics that resembled sea shells and tied the collection together by creating pieces that had Japanese design aesthetics.

2. What is the experience like this year at Sacramento Fashion Week?

My experience at Sacramento Fashion Week this year was awesome! This is my second time doing the show and I have built a following since the last showcase so I was excited to see the tremendous amount of people that came out to support me.

3. How many times have you shown at Sac best week? Nervous?
This is my second year doing Sac Fashion Week. I wasn’t as nervous as before but I did have some nerves lol. I think every designer has some nervousness whenever they have a big show.

4. What is your main aesthetic? And does it differ with this new collection?

My main aesthetic is designing clothes that all women can feel beautiful in. I don’t discriminate on size and I love making a woman feel beautiful no matter what their tag says. I am known for making garments that are sexy yet very classy.

5. What excites you about fashion? Keeps you motivated?

Having an idea in your head and executing that idea into something far more than you could have imaged is what excited me about fashion. My motivation is the people that wear my garments, I love meeting new clients that are happy with their dress they feel sexy, and they know that they have something that has been uniquely made…

6. Are all couture made? (Hand made)

I make all my pieces none are manufactured, a lot of my couture gowns are sewn by hand. My most recent hand sewn gown was featured in Sac Fashion Week I call it, the “Seashell” gown.

9. Did you watch the shows? If so, other designers that rocked!

Yes! There were many talented designers that ripped the runway for Fashion week a few of my favorites were Maisha Bahati, Micheal Kouri, Love by Janelle Cardenas, and Mimi Tran. I also had a team of talented artists that are great designer too. Jennifer Beranrd with Haute Baubles Jewelry designed all the jewelry for my runway collection and Tyneice Hall of Swagger House of Fashion and Art designed the shoes.

The runway also had a celebrity model and friend to Style Me, Jason Thompson of the Sacramento Kings. who also gave Style Me and exclusive on his runway adventure.

Style Me asked Jason Thompson three question about his experience:

1. How did his modeling come about?

2. Overall experience summary?

3. How it felt on the runway?
image

After stating it not to be his first time hitting the runway and he feels as though he could be a model; he had this to say,”(I had a) Real nice time! I do a lot of things other than basketball. I love fashion and modeling.

I went with R. Douglas clothing. Got fitted and did my thing on runway with some good people.” -Jason Thompson: Sacramento Kings.
