The Daily Chat with Carla Mercedes: What’s the Buzz?
1. What inspires you?
What inspires me?
My main inspiration is by living life. In having said that, I am passionate about leaving a legacy for others to follow after I am gone. I believe that we have to give back in some way, and this can be done in a number of ways, such as volunteering or helping someone live out their dream. In addition, I get inspired by the people who have not yet reached their full potential or who have become defeated by temporary issues in life. It is a great feeling when my followers contact because they are hurting and want advice or inspiration in how to deal with their situation. I truly believe Every.Day.Matters.
2. What does motivation do for you?
What does motivation do for me?
Motivation does a number of things for me. On a personal note, I love to feel that there is always something new to learn every day. I am a lifelong learner. I was sharing this with a friend the other day in that I barley listen to the radio because I find peace and comfort listening to podcasts, teachings or speeches. As for motivation in business, motivation is extremely important in any business venture. This is because as an entrepreneur you have to be self- motivated. For the most part, you don’t have to get up at a certain time to clock in to work at 8am. You have to want success for yourself and those who you are impacting. It is easy to motivate others, but the real skill is having them take action as well as keeping yourself motivated.
What is buzzing at “The Daily Chat”?
In the near future, a book will be released. The Daily Chat is also partnering with many different conferences as well as workshops, so look out I could be in a town near you. Lastly, I am in the mist of starting on YouTube and using them as a platform to provide different episodes that will challenge you and inspire you.
It is all in changing your perspective. See too many of us are waiting and anticipating for Friday to come just to not work or to our schedule of adventure and relaxation on the weekend. But you have to still be dedicated to your passion every day, especially in the beginning stages. Monday to me has become one of my favorite days. I see it as a new opportunity to start taking action. When you change your mentally to see that Monday is like any other day, you start to embrace it. Start to embrace Mondays. A good way to do this is that on Sunday plan what you plan to get accomplished on Monday and that will help you stay focused.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management, several certificates specializing in Business Operation, Accounting Technology and Business Management. In addition, I have been in Toastmasters International for over a year. It is an organization that helps individuals to improve in their communication and leadership skills through self-paced educational programs. My goals for the future are to travel the world speaking to the next generation about time management and different ways to improve your life to propel you to the next level. I also would like to make it to the Oprah Show one day (Own Network).
What Drives You?
There are many things that drive me, and one is being so lucky to live in America, a country where anything is possible. I feel that every day we wake up it is to the opportunity that our lives can change. Secondly, I love knowing that I am making an impact in the lives of others. I would like to leave you with some advice and a call to action. Know that you have the power to impact someone’s life, to make a difference. So don’t take that for granted, but rather embrace it. Lastly, I challenge you that from this day forward you will utilize your 24 hours differently than before. See many people want the success, but they do not put in the time and sacrifice it costs to be successful. Everyone has the same amount of hours in a day; it is just how you use yours that makes the real difference.
